Magnesium is one of the earth alkaline metals that can burn in the air. Magnesium and it's compounds have many applications. This project will research and study magnesium properties and it's applications.

Project description
Experience the sparkling flames of a burning magnesium metal. Make Magnesium Oxide, Magnesium Hydroxide (Milk of Magnesia) and finally make magnesium acetate.

Explore, research and report hundreds of industrial and medical applications of the chemicals that you just made.

Examine and calculate the atomic number of Magnesium. You will need some lab equipment for this project.
